Worries that I was getting as mad as Justal evaporated this morning when the alarm went off at 6, rain and wind were lashing at the window, so I turned over and went back to sleep!

Eventually got up and got to the beach for 0830, but was seriously tempted to just call it a Duvet Day. But the rain stopped, wind eased to about 25, so I got on out there.

I LOVE my Sonics 8m! It was very forgiving indeed as the wind picked up, and even though I was on the upper edge of my ability and its wind range, I never felt out of control. Of course, it hardly needed dipping to get powered up, so I managed a little bit of cutting upwind, but only enough to stay out in the strong dead-onshore wind.

I was really pleased to do my first slide turn! :-)

After a while it got too much, and getting into the beach the kite decided to lead the way while I skimmed the lagoon on my belly! Once I ran out of lagoon I just let go and the kite parked itself on the beach waiting for Clive to come and land it.

A good survival sesh, but a little too full-on for me at my level. After packing up, I measured 40-46mph wind. Eek!
